Natural parenting is a whole-family journey.

Babywearing is just one practice that many natural parenting advocates adopt. We believe parenting is a journey that need not be separate from life itself; that the “natural” approach is one of togetherness and freedom, exploring and growing. Here, we are growing a blog that we hope helps you see and share the journey. Maybe you are part of the community of attachment parenting advocates, maybe you just love the joy of having your little one close to you, and maybe you just want to hear about how other moms are journeying through everyday life. Here are a few posts to help, encourage, and inspire. Enjoy. Comment. Share. We’re happy to have you.

Top 10 Most Beautiful Lullabies

I’m a sucker for a good lullaby. A few years ago (um… eleven), I came across a CD of lullabies from around the world that can still calm me in an instant. I was in my mid-twenties and looking for a few soothing sleep-helpers amidst the roller-coaster experiences inherent in that age and my new…read more >

How Your Baby’s Body is Adapted to Being Carried

Some mammals leave their babies in hidden places. Other mammalian young, like sheep, are physically developed enough to follow their mothers by themselves right after birth. Don’t forget our feathered friends.  Quack quack. Our babies don’t fit either bill. Human infants are born far from knowing how to walk and are not meant to be…read more >

What I’m in Love With: Pinterest

Every few months a new website launches that sets Facebook aflame and Twitter a-flutter with people saying it’s the next big thing. When I started seeing Pinterest hashtags on Twitter (#pinterest), I ignored the new www.darling and stayed neutral until one evening after the kids were in bed my curiosity got the best of me.…read more >

Independence vs. Freedom vs. Closeness

Two weeks ago, my adoptive country of Chile celebrated the anniversary of its hard-faught independence from Spain. Chilean flags have been flying everywhere, traditional Cueka music is all around us, and a very simply long lovely weekend was granted to all. I spent mine in a beautiful mountain home with my partner, the married…read more >

All Feelings Are Valid

All feelings are valid. This seems like an obvious statement, but in our busy lives as parents it’s easy to forget to respect our children’s feelings. As a mom of four young children I know how outbursts can seem out of control. Kids emotions can be loud, messy and hard to handle! Instead of trying…read more >

Exploring Expat Family Blogs

I used to have dreams of picking up from my life in north Orange County, California and moving to Montreal, Quebec. I’d visited the city for the first time in 2006 and immediately fell in love. Somewhere between the diversity, delicious French pastries, Chinatown, and not being able to walk two feet without running into…read more >

How to Wear Your Stretchy Baby Wrap Correctly: Spread that Fabric

A picture is worth a thousand words right?  The mama as shown above is not wearing her wrap correctly. Don’t want to be too critical, after all I eat and breathe baby carriers, but since we are carrying such *precious cargo* just wanted to give a visual of what may make for a smoother…read more >

Are We Sending Our Kids to the Wrong Schools?

“No more classrooms, no more books, no more teacher’s dirty looks…” or so the song goes. Which reminds me of a certain Pink Floyd song and so on… Well, thus opens a topic dear to my little heart (and I’m taking some liberties on length with this one, so stay with me!). Today, catching up…read more >
