DESPITE COLD WEATHER, PARENTS AND KIDS CAN CONTINUE TO EXPLORE THE WORLD TOGETHER

Avoid cabin fever with these cold-weather safety and comfort tips

BOULDER, COLO., Feb 25, 2013.— As families around the country settle into a cold and snowy winter, parents of young children are finding ways to get out and explore despite the freezing temperatures. Children’s need for outdoor time doesn’t change with the seasons, and with certain safety and comfort precautions, the outdoors are just as accessible in winter as in any other time of year.

One way to keep young children warm and protected in the elements is to share body warmth through babywearing, such as with wraps or baby carriers. But babywearing parents are often deterred by lack of outerwear that will fit over the baby.

“My son’s first winter, I only took him for a walk one time in the snow,” says Abby Armijo, Senior Project Manager at Boba (www.bobafamily.com), a Boulder, Colo.–based company that creates award-winning baby carriers and related products. “When we had to run errands, I would put him in the carrier, wrap myself up in a warm blanket, and speed walk into the store to avoid frostbite.”

But this winter will be different for Armijo and other babywearing parents, since Boba has launched its new line of vests designed to fit snugly and warmly over baby wraps and carriers. Boba Vest is the result of Boba’s acquisition of Peekaru, a company that has been making popular baby carrier covers since 2006. The covers are not only more fashionable than blankets or oversized coats, but they also close the gap between parent and child to keep out the cold.

In addition to sporting outerwear specifically designed for babywearing, Armijo offers these safety tips for venturing out with baby in the cold weather:

Dress appropriately. Little ones are especially sensitive to the elements, so make sure to dress them in layers—and don’t forget the hat.

Keep the airway clear. It is very easy to get lost in layers, so it is critical that fabric never creeps up around the baby’s face or anywhere that could compromise an open and clear airway.

Protect baby’s neck. Babies are wiggle worms. Avoid any potential strangulation hazards by making sure no fabric could get tangled around their necks.

Get comfortable first. Make sure your baby is in the carrier properly before putting your cold weather cover on. Although you can still make minor adjustments to the carrier with the cover on, it’s much easier to do beforehand.

The Other Baby Book creates a community of support for new families, focusing on the power of the mother-to-mother connection, with a discussion-style presentation of research-based topics, while including the personal sharings of mothers, who in their own voices, share their first-year experiences.

Covering much more than the subtitle lets on, the book actually begins before the first year. It touching on the planning and preparing for your upcoming birth, making it a great read for mothers-to-be, whether it’s your first pregnancy or not. And the charming introduction offers the lens from which to read the book, with Massaro and Katz sharing their sole purpose for writing this new mama guide, and that is to “bring to life an often-forgotten truth: a mother’s instinct is the best resource she has to crease a joyful and connected relationship with her baby.”

Their hope is to empower every mother to gently and committedly to do their own “gut check” with all that is offered to them as new mothers, whether through cultural “wisdoms,” ideas that are pounded through the media, or even “experts” to whom we look to for help and information.

Massaro and Katz speak to what so many mothers are seeing and feeling today, and that is that “Motherhood has been targeted by advertisers, and bombarded by opinions masquerading as medical necessities.” Their intention behind writing this book is to help mothers reclaim a simpler, more connected first year with their babies based on a mother’s own heart of true joy and relationship.

In The Other Baby Book, you will learn the “whys” behind so many tried-and-true mothering wisdoms, like the incredible healing and protective qualities of vernix (the waxy, cheesy coasting your baby is born with) and why waiting to bathe your newly born baby allows your little one to take full advantage of nature’s perfect plan for immunity.

You will also learn the science behind the magic of touch and physical contact that benefits not just your baby, but mothers as well. Highlighted in the chapter on Touch, is a terrific section on babywearing, which is what Boba Family is all about. Massaro and Katz offer up what stats on what generations of mothers already know; that your baby cries less when held close to you throughout the day, whether by babywearing and carrying. Boba founder and babywearing educator, Elizabeth Antunovic shares with readers how babies and mothers benefit physiologically, psychological and emotionally from babywearing. Antunovic, also a mother of four, details the benefits of upright babycarrying in the book with this,

“With a baby upright on his mother’s body, mom adjusts to all her baby’s movement, and he to hers, moving like perfect dance partners. Constant feedback from his skin and the fluid in his inner ear help the baby understand space, and his place in it. A baby’s muscles become stronger as they respond the varied movements of mom’s body and the force of gravity.

Its no surprise that babies carried upright scored higher on both motor and mental tests in the first of life. The rich environment worked the babies’ neural pathways.

Carrying a baby upright on your chest regulates his autonomic system. Studies have shown that a baby’s heart rate stabilizes, his body temperature regulates, he transitions more easily from one sleep state to another, and actually sleeps longer. His breathing becomes steady, he has less chance of apnea, and oxygenation of his body increases. While on his mother’s chest, his systems are kept at a regular tempo. When apart from his mother, a baby works twice as hard to maintain physiological harmony.

A mother can trust her intuition. By holding her baby close to her heart, she uses the most physiologically beneficial method of carrying her baby, proving the optimal environment for her baby’s psychological and emotional growth.”

Massaro and Katz have written the book that was missing from our bedside tables, by accurately covering a mother and baby’s first year together with practicality, kindness and humor. And all the big first-year questions are covered, from breastfeeding and introducing solids, to diapering and EC, but most importantly, how to build your trust in yourself and your mothering wisdom as the authority for your family. I love that this book is in the world and being shared. Taken in and taken to heart, it will go far in supporting the growing, world-wide movement to heal birth and our families, beginning as it should with the mother-child relationship.

At Boba we receive lots of questions about multiple birth and babies. Many parents wonder how it can work with babywearing and other natural parenting methods. When parents find out they are expecting multiples it can be a little scary to consider how it may change parenting choices. While there are no perfect solutions (except maybe making a clone of yourself?) and things will work differently for every mother, there are definitely products and techniques that will help immensely. Moms *do* have two breasts and two hands so if you’re having twins there is hope for you!

Birth

Unless your multiples are a total surprise, you are probably going to stress a little bit about the difference between a singleton and multiple birth. Don’t worry too much because with the right preparation you can have the birth you desire: natural, at home, even unassisted. Read up on complications but try not to worry about them too much, instead learn how to protect against them. For instance one of the biggest worries is going in to labor early. My midwife told me that the best way to deliver to term is to make sure you are eating enough. Find out how many calories you should be eating and eat lots of snacks throughout the day to get it all in. Pay attention to protein especially. If you’re going to a doctor, research all procedures that will happen during pregnancy and anything that could occur during and after birth. I was very good about keeping informed while pregnant and during birth but after my babies were born I was pressured into using a bilirubin light box for jaundice. My son had the same amount of jaundice and we just took him out in the sun and he processed it perfectly. Somehow in the craziness of twin hospital birth I agreed to it and I’ve always regretted keeping my precious babies in a box for the first few days of their lives! Talking to other moms of multiples and reading birth stories online are a perfect way to prepare for birth. There are also lots of inspiring YouTube videos of multiple births. I love this one in particular of a surprise twin birth!

Click here to view the video on YouTube.

The mama and midwife are so calm and brave even though they weren’t prepared for multiples. For more info check out my article on having a natural twin birth.

Breastfeeding

Twins were my second pregnancy and breastfeeding my firstborn was not without issues. The first two weeks were painful but we made it through. I have to say, breastfeeding multiples as a first time mom could be rough. Having lots of support all mapped out before the birth would be an excellent way to prepare in case you run into problems. When working with medical professionals remember to stick to guns and your instincts. If you do not want to supplement, let them know that and make sure you have donor breastmilk ready just in case you absolutely need something. Groups like La Leche League that meet in person are super helpful and a lactation consultant would be great too. There are also lots of Mothers of Multiples groups online and locally. If those don’t work out, a regular old moms group would be nice, especially for first time moms. In my opinion the best product available to make nursing multiples easier is a special huge nursing pillow. I used the Ez 2 Nurse brand. It helps so much with tiny babies that need to be raised to the breast and gives mom her hands back too! I can’t convey how many hours I spent on the couch with my girls nursing while my son and I read books and played. I found that nursing my twins together all the time gave me more time up and about and kept the babies on the same general eating/sleeping/eliminating schedules. It may be more difficult to breastfeed multiples, but it is definitely possible. Bottled breastmilk can be supplemented and there are many ways to get donated milk, such as visiting your local La Leche Leauge. One thing that helped me when I would get frustrated with feeling like all I was doing was nurse and change diapers, was remembering that my girl’s time as babies was so short in the scheme of things and I knew I could make it through the harder early months. Once my twins were more active and responsive things got so much easier. I didn’t feel like I was constantly nursing and we were starting to fall into a good rhythm. Every stage made things smoother. Sitting up, communicating, crawling and standing were all milestones that changed our nursing relationship and each stage was special in its own way. I ended up nursing my twins till they were almost four years old. Probably one of the most amazing things I’ve ever done!

Babywearing

Babywearing is another area that is changed greatly by having two or more babies. Luckily there are solutions that can work to keep your babies close and happy. If you have any friends with infants it would be great to prepare while pregnant by trying on some carriers to see how they feel and get some practice. My favorite carrier for infants is a stretchy wrap like the Boba Wrap. Wrap style carriers are comfortable and ergonomic for baby and mother. After using ring slings when my twins were newborns I could not believe how I could barely feel the wrap on my shoulders. The fetal tuck position that is used with wraps is important for proper infant growth and development and is the familiar snug position from the womb. With a baby over each breast in an upright position twins will feel safe close to their mothers and can easily nurse while in the carrier. A mothers body is designed to regulate the temperate of each breast separately. When twins are worn in a wrap together, a mothers body will change the temperature of each breast in response to each baby. Now that’s some proof that babies are meant to be worn! Twins will grow out of being worn together in one carrier together pretty quick. At this point many moms begin using two carriers at the same time. When my girls were little I didn’t have the Boba carrier, I used a metal frame backpack and sometimes other soft structured carriers on my back with a wrap in the front. Recently I’ve seen moms with two Boba Carriers, one in the front and one on the back. I’ve also seen moms online using two rings slings, one on each side but that never felt comfortable or practical enough to me. I won’t lie, babywearing twins doesn’t always work well for getting things done around the house. Moving quickly and bending over are harder with two babies especially if they are fussy or wanting to nurse. As my babies got older I would try to wear one at a time on my back while doing chores and switch between who got worn and who got to sit in a play seat with toys or being entertained by a sibling. Another big help of course is having a partner or friend wear the happiest baby while mom helps whoever is upset or needs to nurse. Babywearing multiples is very much a skill to be learned so experimenting until you figure out what works for you is the way to go. As always there are so many wonderful resources online like YouTube, babywearing forums, and websites.

Sleep

Sleep is always a delicate subject with moms, we *all* want and probably need more sleep. Co-sleeping or family bed sharing is a common sleep solution for attachment parenting families. Co-sleeping is a great way to meet babies needs and get more sleep. There is a lot of research showing that safe co-sleeping lowers the risk of SIDS, supports breastfeeding and mother/baby bonding, and helps everyone get more sleep. With multiples I’d say co-sleeping is kind of necessary. I don’t believe in sleep-training and I can’t imagine getting up every time each baby woke. I slept with a twin on each side of me and rolled over when one woke. If they both wanted to nurse I would lay on my back and cradle one on each arm. When they were infants I used my Boppy at night and defiantly fell asleep sitting up sometimes. As I’ve said it will all get easier as they grow, the same goes for night care. Eventually they will sleep more, nurse less, and be bigger and easier to maneuver in bed. Just remember they will only be babies once and that you can get through this short time in their lives! Parenting multiples is an amazing blessing that not every person can experience. I never thought I wanted twins but looking back through the last seven years it has been such a unique and awesome experience. I would do it all over again even though I was sleep deprived for at least the first three years! Now I look forward to watching my girls grow together and continue being the sweetest best friends and sisters ever.

We’re proud to be chosen Editor’s Pick for Top Baby Carrier by BabyCenter.com! Boba 3G was among 15 Top Baby Products featured by Baby Center. The parenting site teamed up with baby gear guru Jamie Grayson to choose from among hundreds of parent reviews while also using their own parenting experience to make this year’s choices. Here’s what they had to say about the Boba 3G:

Top carrier: Boba 3G

Versatility makes this soft-structured carrier a winner. In contrast with other popular carriers, the Boba can be worn in front or on your back, allowing kids from 7 to 45 pounds to inhabit it snugly and safely. The Boba distributes your baby’s weight evenly on your hips and allows him to nestle in a froggy position — similar to the position he enjoyed in the womb. And unlike the Ergo, it doesn’t require a bulky infant insert to prop up the youngest babies.

The Boba’s stirrups also set it apart from every other carrier on the market. When your child grows beyond the baby stage, she can rest her feet in the stirrups and adjust and support her weight as needed.

Thank you to Baby Center, Jamie Grayson and all of your for continuing to make Boba 3G a top pick by parents of babies and toddlers!

Where do you go if you want to rent books? The library. So why can’t the same principle be applied to baby carriers? Well, it can!

What is a lending library?

Quite simply, it is a place to rent baby carriers.

Some people rent lots of different carriers in their pursuit of the right one before buying their own; others come because they can’t get the carrier they own to work for them. Others come because they have a special event such as a wedding or baptism. All I know is that there is no particular group of people who use my lending library – each session brings a different set of moms, dads and even grandparents.

I set up the North East Sling Library in Durham, United Kingdom in July 2011 because there was a big gap. We had no babywearing groups local to us and the only carriers available to actually ‘look at’ were in mainstream high street shops, and Durham with its Norman Castle and Cathedral and cobbled streets is not very stroller friendly. It had taken me a long time to find carriers that worked for us; I wanted to be able to help others find the one right for them.

Can anyone set up a lending library? How do you do it?

Yes! A lending library can be as big or small as you want it to be. It can meet when and where you want it to. You choose how long to hire carriers out for, whether you want to charge hire fees, take deposits etc. It is your library; there are no set rules. I charge a small hire fee and ask for a refundable deposit equivalent to buying a replacement in the event of damage but other libraries charge a standard deposit or you pay to join the library and then can hire for free or reduced rates. The simple rule is do what works for you and your library.

The NE Sling Library now has a stock of 60 carriers and it continues to grow. I reinvest the hire fees to buy more slings for the library and try to match user requests to the carriers we buy. We have carriers suitable for carrying premature babies to pre-schooler.

When I first set the library up it did cost me a lot of money and we started with just 4 carriers from my own stash. I approached as many vendors and distributors as I could possibly think of; some donated slings, others offered reduced prices and some did not reply. In the early days the knock backs were hard because I knew there was no way I could finance it all by myself, but when someone says yes it makes it worth the time spent writing letters and emails. I made a website using a free service and I add all donations to a ‘thanks and contributors’ page on there. I also use Facebook and Twitter to interact with different people and groups. I also try to follow and ‘like’ them too and provide updates on when carriers have been hired. I also made the decision to invest in some business cards and postcards which I have on me whenever I am using a carrier and try to advertise wherever I can think of. I put posters up in children’s centers, day nurseries etc. I have found word of mouth plays a big part in getting people to come to the library.

To run a lending library you do not need any specific training or insurance (I am in the UK) and this fits with the tradition of babywearing being passed from mom to daughter, person to person and so on. It is a skill which has been dying but which lending libraries and the internet are helping to continue. I decided that I wanted to also have some form of qualification so I decided to take a Babywearing Consultants Course. I trained with Trageschule UK and joined the British Association of Babywearing Instructors (BABI). There are other schools in the UK, Europe and the USA. I joined BABI as it allowed me to buy insurance through them but this is not necessary. Most lending libraries have their own Terms and Conditions which we ask users to say they have read and signed. It is also important to remember that you may need to declare your income for tax. We are not for profit but still needed to make a tax return.

Since starting the North East Sling Library I have helped over 120 families to carry their children. It does take up a lot of my time but I do it because I enjoy it. I love “helping the North East Carry their babies big and small”.

TOP TIPS.

Get a website or Facebook page

Like or follow other libraries and related pages

Have a selection of carriers suitable for all age groups

Remember you are mostly running as a hobby and that sometimes you have to say no. Your family come first and you physically can’t do everything for everybody.

Finally, good luck and enjoy.

Editors Note: This is a guest post written by Boba Ambassador Rachel. She operates a successful babywearing lending library in the UK. Boba happily supports babywearing lending libraries.

Hiking and backpacking as a family is great way to get into varied terrain and wild places that are protected from life’s modern day trappings. Look for destinations that have natural features that appeal to you. I choose trails that weave along lakes and streams. My husband looks for routes with elevation gain. Wherever you decide on, pick a route that fits your abilities so that you enjoy yourselves. Remember to wear good fitting shoes and to bring water and snacks for both the adults and kids. If you have a toddler like we do, this is the age to see if using your Boba’s removable foot straps will make your child’s ride even more comfortable. Each Boba carrier includes two coordinating foot straps that are fully adjustable and that snap on and off with ease.

I would like to introduce you to some wonderful Boba Families who have shared their outdoor adventures with us. Get ready to be inspired by these incredible families and beautiful locations. And now it is your turn to join in the fun, so lace up your shoes, grab your Boba and head for the hills!

“This photo was taken in May 2010 on our first family holiday. We borrowed a friends VW camper van and headed to the lake district for a week. The weather could not have been better despite it raining none stop the week before. This photo means so much to me as it was my husbands first day wearing a proper sling as my husband looks so proud of himself and his boy. He had insisted on taking a mass produced front pack but we hadn’t even made it out of the car park to begin our 8hour hike up to Blencathra (also known as Saddleback) in the Lake District before he had decided it was too uncomfortable (Henry was 20weeks and 16lb) and although skeptical at first when he saw the birdies he agreed to wear it. He ended up carrying Henry on his front and a huge ruck sack on his back, only getting Henry down so I could feed him. There is nothing better than feeding half way up a mountain when the sun is shining and there isn’t a sole to be seen. The Lake District is where I am at my happiest and it was wonderful that we could share our first holiday and first ‘proper’ daddy babywearing experiencethere. I look forward to taking Isaac in November. Throughout the walk, the number of people who stopped us or who commented on the sling was unbelievable. The cutest comment of the trip? A little boy who shouted ‘look mummy, there is a tiny baby in there, doesn’t he look snug.’” • Rachel Coy

Our first date was a lung-busting hike to a high mountain lake, and since then we’ve backpacked and hiked all over Eastern Oregon, as well as anywhere we can find a trail when traveling. When our daughter was born 5 years ago, our hiking life didn’t stop — we just tucked her in a pack. I exclusively breastfed, so snuggling our baby girl in a pack was great bonding time for my husband. She went everywhere with us in hand-me-down external frame backpacks. A couple hours was usually her limit, unless she took a snooze, and snacks are a must! When I was pregnant with my son two years ago, I happened upon a cool-looking pack named Boba. It had good reviews, so I gave it a try. I am SO glad I did. The Boba and babywearing soothed my cranky baby when nothing else worked. My husband, at first, was skeptical of this pack, which seemed so simple compared to those others. He’s a Boba convert. Just the other day, after a tough hike, he said he could wear it for hours and not have sore shoulders (Max might not be that patient, however) and “wearing” the baby so close makes balance a breeze. The key is to find the pack that fits best — and that your child will tolerate! Now our 5-year-old hikes along with us and her brother rides along on his daddy’s back. Snacks and water are always packed, and the occasional stick to wield has helped us avoid a baby meltdown. Our hikes are slower and shorter now, but I hope that in a few years we’ll be able to backpack and camp as a family. I want them to love nature as much as we do!” • Lisa Jacoby

This picture was taken in October of 2011 when my son, Jackson was 14 months old, and the night before we left I found out that I was pregnant. We went to Mohonk Mountain in the Shawangunks and this particular picture was taken at the top of Bonticou Crag trail on the Mohonk Preserve. We always stay at Clove Cottages where there’s limited TV, no computers and no phones in the cottages which is a nice break outside the hustle and bustle of NYC life. They also have llamas and chickens on the grounds which Jackson loved. I wasn’t then, and I’m still not in the best of shape, so while hiking I was huffing and puffing a little and Jackson found it absolutely hysterical, along with pulling on my pigtails. We are going back again this October, when my husband will carry Jackson (now 2) and I will wear our daughter Layla who will be 4 months then in ourBoba 3G. We plan to make it a family tradition to go every year!” • Kandice

My sister and I never leave home without our baby carriers. Many of the paths at this site, worn into soft limestone by thousands of years of human feet, are less than a foot wide, making the Ruins inaccessible by stroller. The mesa top can only be accessed by ladder (or rock-climbing, as the ancient people did). I helped my son navigate the first ladder up to the mesa top, but coming down was more precarious, so into the carrier he went and he rode down safely on my back. On the next level, the path wound pretty close to a sheer drop, so much of the time he rode in the carrier for my piece of mind, and later he fell asleep. Both boys loved exploring the cave-houses, and it is something they could not have enjoyed for years to come if it weren’t for baby wearing. We decided to try baby wearing when my son was born, and to wait to buy a stroller when we really needed one. He is 26 months old and 30 pounds now and we’ve worn out the first carrier we bought. We replaced it with a Bobaand still haven’t felt the need for a stroller. It is wonderful to be able to carry a toddler for as long as he needs, to snuggle on the go, and to have the freedom to navigate the Metro, the Aquarium, Anasazi ruins, or wherever the adventure takes us, traveling light.” • Rachel O’Donnell

Travel is an incredible way to bond as family while also experiencing other cultures through their food, geography and daily life. But as any traveler knows, there is also a lot to manage when you are away from home. Your tickets, passports and luggage are just a few of the items you need to keep close at hand as you pass through airports and border crossings.

We asked our Boba facebook friends what their secret to international family travel was and they all shared the same thing–Babywearing! Skipping the stroller and wearing your little one in a carrier or wrap frees up your hands to handle documents and luggage while offering your child a safe and comfortable place to rest as you navigate crowds and make your way. Babywearing not only makes international travel and living abroad doable, but also enjoyable for all of you. Here are some incredible families who we hope will inspire you to see the world, whether traveling for pleasure or living overseas for work.

“My two oldest kids were born in Hong Kong. With the busy, crowded streets, the easiest way to transport small children from place to place was by wearing them! Since car seats were not required on public transport, I could wear them everywhere I went, all the time. My two oldest kids were born just 18 months apart. Since it was difficult toting them in a double stroller, I decided to wear one on front and the other in a hip sling on the side. I got a few looks that way, but boy was it easy to get around. Even better than ease was the bond it created between my kids and me. It most definitely helped keep my milk supply going strong as well.

On our trips back to the States, the best way to calm the kids and get them to sleep on the long flight was by wearing them and walking them up and down the aisles. It helped create a sense of security, I think.

I highly recommend wearing your babies on international trips. It enables ease of transport, a encourages a sense of security for your baby, and eliminates the worries of your child wandering off or being left behind in crowded areas.” • Colette

“We just moved from the US to Uganda in early July. I have a 5 month old and a 3 1/2 year old. My Boba 3G was a lifesaver! The 5 month old slept in the Boba most of the time we were in the airport, I was able to get through security without waking him, and I easily bounced him to sleep on the plane in my carrier. The most useful part was when we finally landed in Uganda – we had been traveling for almost 24 hours and my 3 year old had slept for only 3 hours. She was completely exhausted but also very wound up from lack of sleep. I put her (40 pounds!) in my Boba on my back as soon as we landed and she fell asleep immediately. She slept contentedly on my back for the next hour as we went through immigration, gathered all our luggage, and found our ride.” • Valerie

April and Her Son

“We actually live in Romania most of the time. We first moved here seven years ago. I began looking into babywearing anticipating the arrival of our first child. She was carried in a sling and she loved being close to mommy. I loved the freedom that carrying her gave me.

So, when we returned to the States to have our second blessing a friend of mine told me about the wrap. I wore it the next day and he’s been enjoying it as much as I have. There would have been NO way for us to make the trip back here with 4 large suitcases, 4 carry-ons plus personal items, and a car seat if it hadn’t been for the wrap. It left my hands free to pull a carry-on, plus hold our daughter’s hand. He enjoyed the warmth of me close and I, his.

It’s not uncommon here for someone, even a stranger, to come and take baby out of mommy’s arms. I’ve seen it happen and I didn’t want it to happen to me and I didn’t want little ones to be exposed to certain diseases here (mainly Hep A,B, & C and TB). Since our son was so small traveling back (2 months) the wrap was as safe place for him in more ways than one.” • April

“We are a military family stationed abroad in Italy. My son was born there in January, so of course we had to take him back to the states to introduce him to family. He was 4 months when we left and 5 1/2 months when we returned. My husband was with us for our four flights and 20 some hour journey. On the way back I was on my own. Thank goodness for the Boba! I seriously don’t know what I would have done. On that trip I mastered going to the bathroom (TMI?), lightly jogging to catch a flight connection in Rome, soothing a cranky baby on a plane, holding a sleeping baby while on a plane, getting to a plane, leaving a plane, all while baby wearing. We didn’t even bring a stroller with us, so the entire journey there and while we were visiting I was wearing my sweet boy. He loves the Boba, and I knew if he needed a nap, or needed to be calmed I just put him in it and we’re good to go! Thank you for your wonderful product!” • Emily

“We recently (in July) used our Boba Wrap and Carrier while on a trip in Monterrey, Mexico. It is very hot down there and most places do not have AC. We were down visiting family for a wedding (we used to live down there) and I was curious as to how hot I’d feel while wearing the wrap in their climate. I was surprised to find it was actually cooler to wear my baby than to just carry him. Whenever I’d just carry him, then our skin would be touching directly (my arm and his legs) and it caused us both to get really hot. But when I had him in the wrap, it was so much cooler because he was located on the front of my body, not directly against my skin (plus I didn’t have to exert as much energy carrying him versus holding him). I was very surprised by how much cooler I felt wearing a wrap! It helps though now because I can let my customers know with confidence that it is cooler to have the baby in a wrap versus just carrying them in their arms. I so wish I’d had a Boba Wrap for the days when we lived in Mexico with our first child.” • Megan, owner of Colorado Baby and Pampered Buns

” I live in Australia and have traveled with my son since he was 8 weeks old. He has been on so many flights, around Australia and also four international trips, quite the seasoned traveler! I have taken him to Malaysia and Thailand on the first trip, Tanzania, East Africa for a month on the second trip with an overnight stopover in Dubai, then a big one: Kenya, Tanzania, Belgium and Ireland on the third trip, and we have recently returned from a two week home-stay in Fiji, staying with a local family and learning about village life and their traditional culture. Right now I am planning a 2.5 month trip beginning in September, going to Bali, Cambodia and Laos. I am a single mama and have done all of this traveling solo. I have learned a great deal, and it has been very challenging at times being alone when there have been problems (like fevers at 2am in an African village, scary) but the experiences I have shared with my son have been priceless. He is now 21 months old, and loves to look at slideshows of our holiday photos. He has friends all over the world already!” • Bec
