About Heather

I came to Boba this summer to support blogging and international online advocacy for babywearing. But, my history with Boba is a longer, more personal one.

I met Robert and Elizabeth Antunovic, and their beautiful children, when I moved in next door to them on a small street in North Boulder a couple of years ago. I was working as the media and communications director for an international sustainability company. Naturally, we found ourselves talking about online engagement, media and public relations, and lots of sustainability issues, usually while hanging out in the grass with the kids, or sharing watermelon on the steps between our homes.

Babywearing, natural parenting and family travel are all things I’ve been inspired by and have learned a lot about through my friendship with the Antunovic family and working with the awesome Boba team while researching articles and more. I’m happy to be helping to spread the word about the benefits and mission of Boba Family and babywearing through my blog and PR work.

Born and raised in Lansing, Michigan, I lived in Boulder for 12 years before relocating to Chile in 2011. I live with my partner, Pablo and we have a new baby (our first), a darling daughter named Violeta. We live in a small beach community and I work freelance supporting socially and environmentally beneficial business projects through pr/communications work, express myself creatively through singing, writing, painting and ceramics, and am embracing the biggest, most important role of my life: being a mother.

Independence vs. Freedom vs. Closeness

Two weeks ago, my adoptive country of Chile celebrated the anniversary of its hard-faught independence from Spain. Chilean flags have been flying everywhere, traditional Cueka music is all around us, and a very simply long lovely weekend was granted to all. I spent mine in a beautiful mountain home with my partner, the married…read more >

Are We Sending Our Kids to the Wrong Schools?

ā€œNo more classrooms, no more books, no more teacher’s dirty looks…ā€ or so the song goes. Which reminds me of a certain Pink Floyd song and so on… Well, thus opens a topic dear to my little heart (and I’m taking some liberties on length with this one, so stay with me!). Today, catching up…read more >

Anticipating Motherhood

I see strong, inspiring community leaders and a wish to be of service to the world in a mobilizing way wells up in me. I see a happy family, and… you guessed…read more >
